Full steam ahead to the world’s top triathlon
SKS GERMANY & Leonard Arnold at the Ironman World Championship
Leonard Arnold made his debut at the Ironman World Championship finishing in a terrific 19th place. Equipped with SKS bike accessories, he took part in the competition on 10 September 2023 together with triathlon legends such as Jan Frodeno and Patrick Lange. In the end, the 28-year-old fought a ripping duel with fellow countryman Jonas Hoffmann and reached the finish line with a total time of 8:44:44 hours as the second best German.
The World Championship was not held in Hawaii, but in Nice where the athletes were required to do everything. 3.862 km swimming, 180.246 km cycling and a marathon run over 42.195 km. A total of 2057 triathletes over all age groups finished the World Championship on the Côte d’Azur. Among the spectators were also fans from home who had come especially to cheer on their “Leo-Lok”. The numerous members of the “Lokomotive Arnold Supporters Club” also followed the race with excitement from home.
Great support for Leonard Arnold from home
For weeks Leonard Arnold trained up to seven hours a day and let his fan base get involved. The sports engineering student is from Sundern-Hagen, not far from the company site of SKS. The poster boy of the RC Sorpesee Triathlon team and the SC Hagen-Wildewiese sports club also received great support from local companies such as SKS GERMANY. “I used to work here during the holidays. As the main sponsor, the company was a strong partner supporting me,” he sums up. “For us as a Sundern-based family business, it is a heartfelt desire to support athletes from the region,” explains Linda Schulte who is responsible for sponsorship at SKS GERMANY. “Sponsoring such a talented triathlete as Leonard Arnold makes us very proud.”
