The SKS Group is getting its employees fit

An on-site fitness centre with a trainer, indoor cycling courses, company bike leasing options and massages: In recent years, the SKS Group has take numerous measures to improve health in everyday working life – all integrated into a comprehensive company health concept.

For its exemplary commitment, the company has been awarded the “Schlauer Fuchs” (sly fox) safety award by the Berufsgenossenschaft Holz und Metall (BGHM), the statutory accident insurance for wood and metal processing companies in Germany. “The workforce takes centre stage within the SKS Group. The company is committed to the well-being and health and safety of its employees. I was very impressed with this,” states Claus Pachurka, the responsible manager at the BGHM, at the presentation of the award.

“Our goal was to promote the health of our employees in the long term,” explains Christoph Hillebrand, who is responsible for occupational health management. “We quickly realised that individual measures based on a scattergun approach would not have a lasting impact in this respect. That’s why we decided to introduce a comprehensive health concept.”

Employees are not only able to strengthen their muscles under the supervision of a qualified trainer in the SKS Factory fitness area – but the 37 indoor bikes are also used enthusiastically.

What is absolutely booming is the company leasing scheme at SKS, states Christoph Hillebrand: With around 400 employees, more than 150 company bikes are currently in circulation. “We are on the right track with our wide range of offers. The ”Schlauer Fuchs” award is of course an additional motivation for us to continue on this path” states HR Manager Josef Levermann, who is also delighted about the award.
