MyBike Privacy Policy

§ 1 Information on the collection of personal data

  1. In addition to our online offering, we provide you with a mobile app that you can download to your smartphone. In the following, we inform you about the collection of personal data when using our mobile app. Personal data means any data that can be related to you personally, e.g. name, address, email addresses.

  2. The controller pursuant to Art. 4 (7) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is [name, serviceable address, email address] (see our imprint).   3. When you contact us by email or via a contact form, your email address and, if provided by you, your name and telephone number will be stored by us in order to answer your enquiries. The data collected in this context will be deleted once storage is no longer necessary, or – in the case of statutory retention obligations – processing will be restricted.

  4. If we use contracted service providers for individual functions of our offer or would like to use your data for advertising purposes, we will inform you in detail about the respective processes below. We will also specify the defined criteria for the storage period.

§ 2 Your rights

(1) You have the following rights vis-ΰ-vis us regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access

  • Right to rectification or erasure

  • Right to restriction of processing

  • Right to object to processing

  • Right to data portability

(2) You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding the processing of your personal data in our company.

§ 3 What types of data do we collect?

SKS GERMANY aims to make your bike ride as pleasant as possible and does everything to protect your privacy to the greatest extent possible. In order to use all services of our SKS/MYBIKE app as well as the connected SKS/MYDEALER portal optimally, we need to collect certain information. We process personal data when you register with us and use services such as the bike pass, navigation and insurance.

GPS position

  • This is only collected on the smartphone and not transmitted to the server?

  • The current location is determined at regular intervals via GPS?

  • No movement profile is created?

  • Data is collected whether you are logged in or not?

  • This data is only stored locally and temporarily

User data

  • When registering, email address, first and last name, and a password are collected?

  • When logging in, email address and password are collected?

  • In the settings, the user’s address is collected: first and last name come from registration; street, postcode, city and country are mandatory, a telephone number is optional?

  • All collected user data is transmitted to the server and is part of the synchronisation between app and server

Bike pass

  • Model-specific data about your bike (purchase date, brand, model, size, colour, dealer, …) is stored in the bike pass?

  • Photos of your bike can also be stored here

  • ?In addition to the user data mentioned above, invoice files are stored in the bike pass. These may contain user-related data over which we have no control (e.g. bank details)?

  • Data is only collected from registered users

Push

  • For sending push notifications, each device receives an individual app installation ID from Google (Android) or Apple (iOS)

  • ?Data is collected from all users

  • Server access

  • When an app communicates with the server (the API), the IP address and timestamp of the request are stored on the server

General marketing

  • We process data to provide you with (tailored) marketing materials about SKS GERMANY products and online services.

§ 4 Why we process this information

  1. Operation of the app: We process your data to enable smooth and comprehensive use of our app.

  2. Connecting with dealers/workshops/insurance: To make it easier for you to contact your bike dealer, workshop or bicycle insurance provider, we may use the information you have entered within the app, including GPS data. You must consent to this within the app. For example, we may provide information about your bike to your dealer so they can remind you of maintenance.

  3. Customer service: In order to respond to your enquiries, process your requests as quickly and directly as possible, and resolve issues or complaints, we require your contact details.

§ 5 What permissions does the app require?

To use all functions of the app, you must grant us certain permissions. These are explicitly requested from you in the app. All requested permissions are required for full use of the app; we do not request any additional permissions.

  1. Location: We require access to your location to provide navigation.

  2. Camera: We require access to your camera so that you can scan a QR code or take a photo of your bike to store it in the bike pass.

  3. Storage: We require access to your storage so that data (e.g. from your bike pass) can be stored on your device.
