Orange meets Green
We are aware of our responsibility towards our environment as a plastics processing company. That is why we take a consistently sustainable approach with well-thought-out innovations, resource-friendly production and social commitment.
Durability as a philosophy
Sustainability begins with product development. The products are made of high-quality materials and are designed for a long service life.
This is based on certified production in accordance with DIN ISO 9001, the automotive standard IATF 16949:2016 and and the environmental certification ISO 14001.
In addition, there is our sustainable product design: All spare parts are easy to replace and are available for years to come. The Rennkompressor pump, for example, has been produced largely unchanged for decades and can be easily repaired. Over 200 original spare parts can be ordered from the SKS OrangeStore, so that pumps, mudguards and other items can be used for a long time.
Made in Germany for over 100 years
The majority of SKS products are made in Sundern.
For us, this loyalty to our area means not only a high quality promise, but also a sustainable production method: short supply chains, lower CO2 emissions, flexible capacities and fair working conditions.
Our production is based on an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1. We use thermoplastic materials in the production of manufacture of clip-on mudguards. These materials can be deformed by heat, melted down again and fully recycled. In addition, we make sure that the products can be broken down into individual parts and systematically fed back into the recycling cycle.
Energie & Umwelt im Fokus
We continuously invest in green technologies: A combined heat and power plant simultaneously supplies electricity and heat, and we also use the waste heat from our compressed air compressors to heat company buildings.
For lighting, we rely on energy-saving LED technology, while in our fleet, electric cars with their own charging infrastructure and cargo bikes are used.
As SKS Energy Scouts, our trainees developed concrete measures to save resources, which have been successfully implemented. The project was awarded first place in Berlin.
Responsibility for the SKS family
As a family-run company, the well-being of our employees is very important to us.
We create training opportunities and jobs with long-term prospects and promote the health of our employees. This includes a company fitness studio with professional support, free fruit and water, and a modern occupational health and safety management system.
In addition, we support the mobility of our workforce through bicycle leasing and have been awarded the gold "Bike-Friendly Employer" certificate. A special opportunity for leisure activities is the company's own WOOHOO outdoor centre on Lake Sorpesee, which is available to all SKS employees at discounted rates.
Regional commitment across the region
Our social responsibility begins on a local level: By working with workshops for the disabled, we make a valuable contribution towards inclusion.
Our sales promotions, whose proceeds benefit social projects, are also a sign of this commitment. We also sponsor local clubs and athletes and actively participate in cycling events.
The best example is the SKS Bike Marathon, which takes place as part of the Mega Sports Mountain Biking Festival and starts every year on the SKS company premises. As a long-term sponsor, we are not only committed to environmentally friendly mobility, but also to regional cooperation and sustainability put into practice.
