The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has achieved excellence in many different areas in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Excellence in business, science and technology, but also in culture and sport all go to show: North Rhine-Westphalia – that is Germany at its best. As part of a local promotional campaign, SKS Germany has now been honoured by the Minister of Economy, Energy, Industry, Trade and Craft of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mr Garrelt Duin, as a leading provider of bicycle accessories.
As an authentic manufacturer’s brand, SKS Germany is able to look back on a long history, and today too it stands for top quality in bicycle accessories. The many years of company history started with its foundation by Karl Scheffer-Klute (SKS equals Scheffer-Klute, Sundern) and can be traced back to the year 1921. In 1932, SKS launched its air pump production, and the decisive breakthrough was achieved in 1956 when they started producing plastic pumps. Until the early 90s, mass production dominated the product programme for the original equipment of bicycles. Today, the air pump range is characterised by high-quality mini and floor pumps and sophisticated special pumps for the ambitious cyclist. Also in the field of mudguards, SKS Germany stands for quality ‘Made in Sundern’ and produces up to 10,000 pieces per day. The high-tech bicycle accessories company can be found at the Hubertushalle in Sundern: here, over 300 employees produce the SKS products in top quality on 36,000 square meters of pure production space. 98% of all SKS products are produced in the Sauerland, and in future too, SKS will remain faithful to the promise ‘made in Germany’ – both in production and development.
Currently, alongside air pumps and mudguards, the comprehensive product range includes mini tools, bicycle bags, chain guards, bottles and bottle holders.
